Kingfisher A extended their lead at the top of division 1 with a 9-1 victory over Tilehurst RBL A despite some resistance from Jon Willis.
He beat young Rishaan Sawant and was up by two games over Dmitry Khakhamov before fading. Darren Jones also gained his maximum three wins for Kingfisher. Second met third as Sonning Common & Peppard A gained ground on Kingfisher B with a useful 7-3 win.
As expected, Daniel Moses comfortably saw off Graham Mendick, Cath Venning and Prayrit Ahluwalia, the latter easing to victory over Ed Lush and Gary Morgan. Gary also played excellently to see off Graham 3-1.
Only Danny Dockree could trouble the scorers with a win over Alan Cummings as Sonning Common & Peppard C slumped to a 9-1 defeat at Kingfisher C.
Matt Isherwood and Nigel Keedy completed excellent maximums for the home side. Tom Astle excelled to score two useful singles points over Paul Savage and Graham Diplock as Sonning Common & Peppard B fell 7-3 at Sonning Sports A. But Dave Croucher proved far too strong for the visitors.
SC&P B’s other point was provided by captain Matt Stone after his win over Graham. Trebles from Lee Calcutt and Tony Baker helped Tidmarsh A to a 9-1 win at Sonning Common & Peppard D, Simon Berry beating Dale Ballard 12-10 11-9 11-9 for the Commoners.
Tidmarsh B and Kingfisher F had a hard fought 5-5 draw in Division Two with Adrian Cretu getting an excellent maximum for the Kingfisher team.
Springfield A’s good recent form continued when they won 6-4 at Kingfisher G with Matt Hickman recording a maximum for Springfield including recovering from two games down to beat penholder Qing Wu 11-9 in the fifth.
Tilehurst RBL B had a 10-0 win over relegation threatened Kingfisher H with the highlight set being Nick Lean’s win in five against promising youngster Vivaan Karalkar. Our Lady of Peace A had a good 6-4 win over Kingfisher E with Chris West and Darek Kaminski recording maximums for OLOP.
In Division Three, Our Lady of Peace C won a one-sided match against Tilehurst Methodists C 10-0, the closest match was Lewis Oke v Shawnik Thakur as all sets were won with only a two point margin: 14-12 10-12 9-1110-12.
Sonning Sports B and Sonning Common & Peppard E drew 5-5 in a very long and close contest where 7 out of 10 games went to the fifth set. Anthony Reeves was the unluckiest player as he lost all his games in the fifth set. Jez Willis again managed a treble to help his team to get a draw.
Our Lady of Peace B beat Our Lady of Peace D 6-4 in an OLOP derby, and this was the B teams fifth win in a row. Despite Louise Forster’s efforts and treble, it was another close loss for the OLOP D team.
The most exciting game was between Graham Stark and Louise Forster which was a true roller coaster. The third set was 19-17 which was one of the longest games this season: 7-11 11-9 17-19 11-8 6-11.
Despite a good start from Tilehurst Methodist A, Kingfisher I managed to win the last four games and won their match 7-3.
Eyup Odemis was the star of the night as he won his treble where all his matches went to fifth. But the highlight of the match was the doubles game. The away team managed to save three match points in the fourth set and won the fifth which was the turning point of the match.
Sonning Common & Peppard F carried on their good form in Division Four by beating Springfield C 7-3 with Graeme Streets doing very well by gaining a three straight treble.
Walter Aldridge and Emrah Bulut both hit maximums to help Kingfisher K beat Sonning Common & Peppard G 7-3 while Tilehurst RBL C got back to winning ways by beating Springfield B 7-3 with Linda King and Paul Treadgold both gaining hat tricks.
Despite Pat Daniels winning three Our Lady of Peace E were held to a draw by Sonning Sports C in a match where for the first time for over 20 years all players from OLOP were from the same family. Sonning Sports D hammered Kingfisher L 10-0 with all three players namely James Miller, Cris Reynolds ad John Churchouse all winning in three sets.
