This year has been a massive one in the step forward for the vinyl revival, writes Dom Hurrell and Ian Biles from Beyond The Download at Holme Grange Craft Village.
The year has been full of some spectacular new releases starting of with albums from artists such as Ed Sheeran and Rag’n’Bone Man which has been followed up with a really strong end to the year, with the Gallagher brothers releasing their two albums which have been our top sellers this year.
Music fans are falling back in love with vinyl in a big way, in an article published by The Guardian earlier this week they state that ‘The BPI, the industry’s trade body, predicts UK sales of vinyl albums will exceed 4 million units – the highest since it began collecting data in the early 90s.’
Probably safe to say now that vinyl is back and means serious business.
As we creep closer and closer to Christmas the amount of new releases becomes fewer but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still some great albums being released!
This week we have the latest album from Roy Orbison with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra which charted at number 3 now available on vinyl and a rather special Harry Potter soundtrack box set which includes a total of 10 picture disc LPs, it’s the perfect present for any Harry Potter enthusiast.
However our choice for our album of the week comes from an artist releasing their emotionally raw debut.
This long awaited debut from R&B singer SZA tests the boundaries of the genre as she delves deep into her personal take on modern romance throughout her beautifully powerful and truthful debut album.
BTD are pleased to announce that from Monday, December 11 we will be selling the new album from The Eric Street Band’s front man Dennis Siggery.
Celebrating 20 years back in music Dennis Siggery had planned to put together two box sets of all his work plus new material, but he coincidentally ended up creating a brand Mondnew album, Sun Street.
The album that was never planned, and quite often when something isn’t planned it turns out to be a fine piece of work, and that is exactly the case with Dennis Siggery’s latest album.
The blues-inspired artist has crafted an album different from his others which fuses together a great mix of blues and rock.
Sun Street is a very honest and humble album about the early years of Dennis’ life, the title is taken from the street where Dennis was born as well as his Dad and the album as a whole is a truthful and personal story built on his memories of growing up in Newtown as an east end boy marrying a west end girl.
Talking about the album himself, Dennis states: “If I was to write a biography about my life this would be it. It’s been six months in the making and I am pleased with it’s results!”
From start to finish the album draws you in and forces you to listen to his stories, the last track elegantly rounds off the album with a honest message to his family.
Elsewhere this week BTD are hosting our second acoustic show at The Queens Oak Finchampstead as we present the Indie folk guitarist Zach Johnson on Saturday from 8pm.
