PEOPLE visiting the town last Saturday and Sunday were treated to an art show featuring the talents of local painters and makers.
Venues in and around the town centre became art galleries where the artists showed off their work.
Paintings in a variety of mediums, and three dimensional sculptural pieces were all available to see as visitors stepped inside the artists’ studios for closer inspection.
The event was free of charge, and many of the artists were there ready to talk to people about their work and their inspiration, and to take commissions.
Pieces of art were also available for visitors to buy.
One of the artists, Caroline Mizen, said:
“Saturday was very busy, with lots of visitors, plenty of footfall, and a good number of sales.
“On Sunday, there were many cars around, but fewer people stepping inside the galleries.
“But it was a lovely event, and there was lots of interaction with the visitors.
“People really wanted to talk with us, and they wanted to know about techniques we used.
“My work is set in various locations, and people were keen to talk about when they had visited those places.
“Some of the artists were selling their work very well.
“It was great for us all to be able to talk to people about the art, and definitely worth doing.”
