THERE were smiles, laughter, and a few tears at St Nicholas CE Primary School as staff, pupils and the wider community said a fond farewell to Denise Lynch, who retired after 37 years of service.
Having started at the school in April 1989, Denise has become a familiar and much-loved face to generations of St Nicholas children and families.
During her time at the primary school, it is estimated that she has welcomed and supported around 740 children as they began their school journey, leaving a lasting impression on countless more.
As part of Denise’s retirement celebrations, the school made an appeal on social media, inviting former pupils and families to share their memories of her.
Stories of kindness, encouragement, laughter and treasured memories were compiled into a special keepsake card, creating a reminder of the many lives Denise has touched throughout her time at the school in Hurst.
Following a wonderful send-off, Denise is now looking forward to a slower pace of life, spending time in her garden and enjoying a well deserved retirement.
Everyone at St Nicholas wishes Denise a long, happy and relaxing retirement and thanks her for the extraordinary difference she has made over the past 37 years.
