Clive Jones, Wokingham’s member of parliament, wore a locally-made crocheted poppy in the House of Parliament on Monday.
He had purchased it from the Barkham Hookers during a visit to the British Legion pop-up shop in Wokingham last week.
Gaynor White, founder of Barkham Hookers, told Wokingham Today: “I’m super proud to see this poppy being worn with pride in parliament.
“It is one of our military poppies that has an original regimental button.”
The MP confirmed he was wearing a REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) poppy in the Houses of Parliament on Monday.
Arborfield was, for many years, home for the British army division responsible for maintaining its equipment.
Gaynor added: “I would love to make anyone else a beautiful poppy to remember a loved one who has been part of the forces.
“We have raised more than £60,000 for the British Legion through the sale of these poppies, and we hope to keep raising more.”
The Barkham Hookers’ crocheted poppies will be on sale at the British Legion pop-up shop in Bush Walk, Wokingham, opposite the town hall, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday ahead of Sunday’s Remembrance Parade.
