Woodley town council is continuing to support local community services through its grant award scheme, providing funding to organisations that support residents.
At the recent strategy and resources committee meeting on April 21, a total of nine Community Grants were approved, benefitting a range of groups delivering important services across Woodley and the surrounding area.
Berkshire MS Therapy Centre was given cash to help fund therapy sessions at its Reading-based centre.
Berkshire Vision was given money to contribute to telephone befriending and social club services.
Cash will be given to Life Education Wessex and Thames Valley to deliver a four-day programme on health, wellbeing, and drug prevention for pupils at South Lake Primary School.
Together One Step at a Time CIC will be given money to provide inclusive sensory sessions over the summer.
Woodley Bowling Club will carry out essential repairs to its clubhouse security shutters thanks to the grant it received.
Woodley C of E Primary School will develop an outdoor garden learning space for both students and the wider community.
The grant for the Woodley Festival of Music and Arts will support venue hire, professional fees, publicity, and equipment costs.
The money for Woodley Volunteer Centre will help replace its office computer system, and Woodley Showstoppers will be assisted with hall hire, costumes, licensing, technical support, and general running costs.
Councillor Keith Baker, chairman of the strategy and resources committee, said: “These grants are more important than ever as many individuals and families in our community are feeling the impact of rising living costs.
“Local organisations like these provide vital support, connection, and opportunities that make a real difference to people’s lives.
“By continuing to invest in them, we are proud to help support these services and strengthen our community and the support networks people depend on.”
