As if getting around Wokingham town during the regeneration wasn’t hard enough – on Monday, traffic lights will be installed in Rose Street to enable SGN to install gas pipes to the new Peach Place development.
The company is pledged that between 7am and 7pm the traffic lights will be manually controlled in order to keep the traffic flowing.
A statement on its website reads: “We are completing a new connection to the Peach Place development and ensuring a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local area.
“In consultation with Wokingham Borough Council, we will start work on Monday 11 June for two weeks.
“To ensure everyone’s safety, we’ll need to install temporary traffic lights in Rose Street outside the Peach Place development. To keep the traffic flowing, the lights will be manually controlled from 7am to 7pm.”

Road in Embrook and Winnersh is the next area to be affected by SGN’s £1.6 million project
to replace old gas mains and services with new plastic pipes.
Work has been taking place in Old Woosehill Lane since the end of April, and the company is now starting the process of digging Reading Road from the Shell petrol station in Woosehill down to Gazelle Close (near to Halfords) in Winnersh. It is anticipated that the Winnersh crossroads will be dug up during the school holidays.
Throughout the roadworks, which will run from 7am to 7pm on weekdays, SGN are pledging to have manually controlled traffic lights.
