This August, the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup returns to Ascot Racecourse, promising a day of exhilarating horse racing followed by an unforgettable music concert.
This year’s event, which takes place today, marks a historic first collaboration between Ascot Racecourse and The Cambridge Club, a renowned music festival provider.
The Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup is a unique fixture in the global racing calendar, featuring four teams with three jockeys in each: Great Britain & Ireland, Europe, The Ladies, and the Rest of the World.
For the first time ever this year there will be an even male and female split across the 12 jockeys as three elite female riders make up the Rest of the World team, showcasing the unique nature of the sport where male and female jockeys compete on equal terms.
Shergar Cup legend, Hayley Turner, will once again captain the Ladies team in their defence of the trophy and she will be joined by Saffie Osborne and top French jockey Marie Velon.
Group 1 winning Australian-based jockey Rachel King will captain The Rest of the World team, accompanied by Japanese rising star Nanako Fujita and South Africa’s Rachel Venniker.
The Great Britain & Ireland team will be captained by Dubai World Cup winning jockey Tadgh O’Shea while Kazakhstan’s top jockey and four-time champion in Germany, Bauyrzhan Murzabayev, will captain Europe.
Beyond the racing excitement, the event will feature fairground rides, street food, and cocktail bars, ensuring entertainment for the entire family.
The post-race concert, organised by The Cambridge Club, will feature a stellar lineup of performers from the 90s and 2000s, including the multi-talented Denise Van Outen, pop-rock band Scouting for Girls, and the electrifying Ministry of Sound Ibiza Classics. A surprise headliner will be announced next month, promising to add even more excitement to the evening.
Tickets start from £30 for the Queen Anne Enclosure, £50 for the Winning Post Enclosure and £75 for the King Edward VII Enclosure when booked in advance. There is free entry for children under 18 with a full paying adult.
Fine dining packages start from £396 per person inclusive of VAT in the award-winning restaurant ON 5 with packages for the Parade Ring Restaurant already sold out.
