A HOME building company has supported California Gardeners’ Club with a boost for its activities.
David Wilson Homes has donated £250 to the group to fund a programme of professional speakers for its members.
Richard Hawes, Chairman of California Gardeners’ Club, said: “With the cost of professional speakers increasing significantly, this donation from David Wilson Homes will go towards the booking of quality speakers, ensuring our members and visitors not only enjoy their evening with us but also learn from their visit.
“Over the years, we have invited a variety of speakers to our meetings to inspire our members and provide insights into growing a range of flowers and plants.”
The gardeners recently helped local Brownies to create hanging baskets at David Wilson Homes’ Finchwood Park development, a collection of three and four bedroom homes.
Designed to attract pollinators, the baskets included geraniums, African daisies, fuchsias and lobelias, and were part of the reconstruction company’s No Mow May campaign.
David Wilson Homes says they are committed to ecology and working with community groups supporting pollinator species and the local environment.
Alex Dowling Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt David Wilson, said: “We are pleased to build on our partnership with California Gardeners’ Club after our successful No Mow May campaign to help provide expert speakers to educate their members.
“The club is instrumental in bringing together people from Finchampstead and the surrounding areas and we hope this donation will supports its programme of events over the coming months.”
California’s Gardeners Club was established in 1965 and provides members with a social and informative session each month.
Previous talks enjoyed by the group have focused on covered lawns, fuchsias, and propagation of house and bedding plants.
