Wokingham Borough Council has confirmed that Heathlands Road will remain closed on Friday, 13 February, after plans to reopen the route were delayed due to persistent heavy rainfall.
The council said the continuous wet weather has prevented work to re-lay and surface the road safely. Officials emphasised that safety remains the top priority and reassured residents that efforts are being made to reopen the road as soon as conditions allow.
The closure has affected both local traffic and bus services, with drivers advised to use alternative routes while the work continues. Motorists have been urged to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.
Heathlands Road has been closed as part of a wider programme of road maintenance and improvements across Wokingham borough. These works aim to enhance safety and driving conditions for local residents and commuters.
Local residents and businesses have reported frustration over the continued disruption, citing longer journey times and difficulties accessing nearby properties. The council has acknowledged these concerns but stressed that delays are necessary to ensure the quality and longevity of the repair work.
Heavy rainfall has also caused travel disruptions elsewhere in Berkshire this week, contributing to flooding and other road closures. The council has stated it will resume work as soon as conditions allow and encouraged the public to monitor official updates via its website and social media channels.
