A WOKINGHAM church is providing a free Thursday afternoon drop-ins for people looking for company and refreshments.
Throughout August, Thursday afternoon activities, with tea, coffee and cake, have been offered free to visitors, thanks to support from Wokingham stores.
Organiser Kim Tame said: “August Thursday Afternoons came about because church members realised that it’s not just children who find that their regular activities stop during August.
“Many older adults can find the summer quite lonely and isolating when their usual activities take a break.
“This is the third year that we’ve run the group , following successful activities in 2023 and 2024.
“We are very grateful for the kind support of our Wokingham Cook, Tesco and Waitrose stores, as their generosity helps keep our costs very low, and the group can be free for those who need it to be.”
All are welcome to drop in to the remaining two August sessions, when people will be able to enjoy board games, music, stories, poetry, knit and natter, company and refreshments.
The drop-in is at Cafe Mosaic at the Bradbury Centre, on Thursdays, August 21 and 28, from 2pm until 4pm.
There is no charge, but voluntary donations are welcomed.
