A phone hub with life-saving equipment could be installed in Bracknell town centre.
The advertising company JCDecaux has applied to install a ‘Communication Hub’ in Braccan Walk, just outside Costa Coffee.
The hub comes with a free phone for landlines, an advertising screen and a defibrillator, which can deliver a life-saving electric shock for someone experiencing a cardiac arrest.

Justifying its installation, a cover letter for the plan states: “A notable and unique provision of the Hub unit is the integral defibrillator.
“Since 2019, JCDecaux has worked in partnership with the Community Heartbeat Trust, a registered charity that promotes the provision of defibrillators in public spaces, making it the ideal partner for this proposal.
“Cardiac arrest is a real issue in all communities, with over 100,000 hospital admissions each year.
“A heart attack can happen to anyone and anywhere and the survival rate is just 1:10.
“However, the early use of a defibrillator can triple the chances of someone surviving such an attack.”
As well as that, the hub provides free Wi-Fi, a touch screen to enable wayfinding, direct access to local webpages, and USB and wireless
device charging capabilities.
The proposed installation of the hub has been submitted in a planning application to Bracknell Forest Council.
