A GAMES event held by The Community Church of St Nicholas, Emmbrook (known to parishioners as St Nick’s) treated participants to an afternoon of fun strategy-filled activities.
The church, part of the Parish of St Paul’s, Wokingham, is celebrating its 50th birthday with events throughout the year.
Having already held a community open day at Emmbrook Village Hall where the church meets, earlier in the year, it entertained parishioners and residents at this event with a wide range of board games.

Players were able to enjoy games including Jenga, Scrabble, Rummikub, Suspend, 6 Nimmt, Bagatelle, Yahtzee, Jishaku, and Kluster.
Organiser Susanna Riley said: “We had a lovely afternoon, and people of all ages brought a variety of games.

“There was a real buzz as everyone got stuck in, and of course there was tea and homemade cakes.
“Our Rector, Fr Sam Tanna-Korn joined in, as did our local Emmbrook councillor, Basit Alvi, with his family.”
Cllr Alvi shared his enjoyment of the event online.
He said: “I had a truly fantastic time popping down to Emmbrook Village Hall to join in with St Nicholas’ 50th Birthday celebrations.
“It was fantastic to see such a wonderful mix of residents coming together, with games that perfectly suited everyone, from the youngest kids to our elderly neighbours.”
The church’s next birthday event will take place over the first weekend of December this year, and will include a visit from the Bishop of Reading Rt Revd Mary Gregory.
