A PROBLEM in an electric cupboard at a flat in Winnersh prompted fears of a fire on Tuesday night.
A crew from Wokingham Fire Station was joined by colleagues from Wokingham Road in being called out to an address in Sadlers Court just before 11:50pm for what was phoned in as a fire at the property.
On arrival the two pumps were met by an electrical engineer, who needed assistance gaining access to the cupboard.
Thankfully there was no fire discovered once leverage tools were used to open the door, although the mains was emitting a lot of heat, which was discovered by the use of a thermal imaging camera.
As a matter of precaution, firefighters remained at the scene for around 20 minutes while the engineer isolated the switch and dealt with the issue.
Delta Watch Manager Lewis from Wokingham Fire Station praised the quick thinking of those involved, saying: “People being aware of electrical safety is always a good thing.”
No-one was hurt or injured during the incident.
