Each year the Thames Valley Writers Circle holds a competition for members in memory of Arthur Redway, who not only always made members smile at their meetings, but opened his house and garden at Cold Ash each summer for members and their families.
This year’ s story was restricted to 150 words and had to include 5 words chosen at random. It was judged by all members of the Circle without knowing the names of each author.
They selected as the winning story, ‘Yoshi wins the Day’ which was written by Alison Trott, the Circle’s newest member, with a story about two brothers who fell out, but were reunited years later.

Runner up was Les Williams with Dubai or Bust, the downfall of a money fraudster, with Davis Brunell, taking a rest from his Cornish Conundrums books with Aberfan, a tale of a Welsh mining disaster.
