Woodley United manager Eliot Whitehouse declared himself pleased with his side’s opening day performance.
A second half equaliser from former Wokingham Town striker Jack Webb grabbed a share of the points against Deportivo Galicia in Division One of the Combined Counties Football League.
Speaking exclusively to Wokingham Today immediately after the final whistle, Whitehouse said: “That was our first competitive match, but we’ve still got seven or eight players away.
“I felt it was a fairly even game in many respects.
“Once we decided on our approach, which comes from the bench and then trying to get it across and apply it to the players. I think that adaptation of being really difficult for them to get out from the back made a huge difference for us.
“’ll need until December until I’ve really established the squad and got the physical levels where I want them.”
