AN ADOPTION charity in Berkshire is inviting residents to a live question and answer session online as it urges them to consider early permanence adoption.
Parents and Children Together is holding a free online live Q&A, where people considering adoption will be able to put their questions to PACT’s experienced team as well as a parent who adopted through early permanence.
Early permanence involves placing children with potential adopters who are also approved as temporary foster carers while decisions are made about the child’s future within the family court process.
The process helps avoid unnecessary moves and disruption for children in their while also providing advantages for carers, including the possibility of early bonding between carers and the child or children.
It also means that early permanence carers are child-centred and manage the uncertainties, so that children do not have to bear the weight of uncertainty.
Last year, 70% of PACT’s prospective adopters were also recommended as early permanence carers.
PACT’s Service Director for Adoption, Lorna Hunt, said: “PACT encourages all prospective adopters to find out about early permanence and consider providing young children with the stability and care they deserve with the reassurance of PACT’s commitment to supporting them every step of the way.”
Interested attendees must register in advance to secure their spot.
