The fifth Annual Dolphin School Book Festival (BookFest) will take place on Saturday, May 18, giving the opportunity for the school’s students, their families and the wider community to meet authors, illustrators and storytellers.
It promises to engage, inspire and enthuse; throughout the day a range of workshops are run by the Authors igniting a passion for reading, writing and illustration. These are targeted at a range of age groups Nursery to teenagers, bringing books to life for all.
Head of English, Jo Hurst, said: “I am thrilled by the line-up for BookFest this year, which really celebrates narrative in all its forms: we have an illustrator live-drawing, a storyteller with musical accompaniments, as well as more traditional writers for a range of ages.”

Authors visiting including Anna Kemp, author of The Worst Princess and Sir Lilypad; Sam Gayton, author of The Snow Merchant, Hercufleas, Lilliput and His Royal Whiskers; Illustrator Emma Shoard, The Family Tree (longlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal 2019) and musical storyteller Paul Jackson, a professional story teller who magically blends music and narrative.
The Norfolk Children’s Book Centre pop-up shop gives visitors the chance to browse and discover new authors and titles.
The event runs from 10am to 4pm at the Dolphin School, Waltham Road in Hurst.
