Police have caught eight drivers committing offences during speed enforcement operations across south Bracknell.
The operation was carried out after residents told police they wanted their local neighbourhood team to focus on speeding.
Officers from the neighbourhood and Roads Policing teams carried out checks on Wednesday (12 August).
They targeted three roads:
– Yeovil Road, Sandhurst
– Old Wokingham Road, Crowthorne
– Ringmead, Birch Hill
Police said the majority of drivers were travelling within the speed limit.
However, eight drivers were found to be committing offences.
Six were stopped for excess speed, while two were dealt with for seatbelt offences.
The operation involved PC Crossman, PC Zaremba and PC Murphy, alongside Roads Policing officers PC Gibson and PC Tackney.
Thames Valley Police said speeding was one of the “Fatal Five” behaviours which contributed to serious and fatal collisions.
The other four are drink or drug driving, using a mobile phone while driving, failing to wear a seatbelt, and careless or dangerous driving.
Police said they were aware of requests from residents for more enforcement at night.
“Speeding is one of the Fatal Five — the five behaviours that contribute to serious and fatal collisions on our roads,” the force said.
“A few seconds saved on a journey simply isn’t worth putting yourself or someone else at risk.”
Police added that night-time enforcement would be carried out on some of the roads mentioned.
