A HELPFUL technician from Wokingham has been declared a star for his work at Reading Buses.
Martin Gibbs has won the company’s internal employee of the month scheme for December after being nominated by his colleagues. He is one of two people to receive the Star Of The Month award.
The 35-year-old service supervisor has worked for Reading Buses for nearly nine years.
He splits his time working in the Control Room with helping to look after buses and drivers in Reading town centre.
In addition, he performs revenue checks on the buses to ensure that customers have paid for the correct tickets.
Reading Buses, which runs a range of services across Wokingham borough including the Lions, the Leopards and the Orange routes, said that Mr Gibbs was nominated for always being there for the driving staff when they needed guidance or support and always giving some ideas to help resolve any issues.
The company’s HR Director, Caroline Anscombe, said: “Martin has a brilliant can-do attitude and is a fantastically helpful team member.
“This nomination was backed up by Martin’s manager who said that his helpfulness and enthusiasm really does know no bounds.
“He is always willing to support and put in that extra bit of work to ensure that the job gets done to a high standard.”
Also nominated was Steve Hamblin, 41, of Reading Buses Engineering Department at Great Knollys Street, had won an award for his “commendable great attitude to work”.
Steve, of Old Burghclere, was nominated by his colleagues who said that he was “always willing to do any job given, whether big or small”.
