READING FC manager Ruben Selles admitted there is a possibility of a ‘points deduction’ after the Royals’ match with Port Vale was abandoned.
Reading fans stormed the pitch in the 16th minute to show their disdain for owner Dai Yongge as they ramped up protests to try and urge him to sell the club.
After an hour and with a small portion of fans still on the field, the decision was taken to abandon the game.
“We knew something was going on. We had a decision to make,” said Selles.
“The decision was to compete and not get distracted by those things.
“Sometimes these things happen and you lose focus.
“In terms of the pitch invasion, we had to ensure all of our players and their players were in the tunnel.
“We called the boys into the dressing room and analysed the first 15 minutes in case we needed to restart.
“Then what that means for us whether its point deductions, or an empty stadium and all those things.
“The repercussions of a points deduction is there, it is unlikely, but it can happen.
Or we can play with an empty stadium for one, two games or the rest of the season.
“It will be for a panel of experts to decide.
“I’m sympathetic with the fact we all want the best for Reading Football Club.
“The fans are feeling proud of what the team is doing and the way we are competing and they are getting frustrated with similar things that we are.
“I’m sympathetic but what I really want is to play football matches and win football matches.”
