A man has been jailed for 36 weeks after admitting stealing more than £500 worth of goods from shops in Bracknell.
Daniel King, 28, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to seven counts of theft from a shop at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
Thames Valley Police said the offences took place between 8 May and 26 June, when King entered a number of retail premises in Bracknell and stole items worth a total of £515.02.
He was arrested on 10 July and charged the following day.
The court heard King had committed further offences while subject to a suspended sentence.
PC Ryan Murphy, of the Bracknell Neighbourhood Team, said the sentence demonstrated the “proactive and targeted work” being carried out by the force’s Op Purchase Shoplifting Team and neighbourhood policing team.
“We are committed to supporting retailers and businesses across Bracknell and will continue to work closely with our partners to identify, investigate and bring offenders before the courts,” he said.
“Shoplifting can have a significant impact on businesses, staff and customers, and we will continue to take robust action against those responsible.”
