WOKINGHAM Music Club has announced that a gig planned for tomorrow night will still go ahead despite the death of the Queen.
The Government has previous issued guidance to theatres and entertainment venues advising them that the show should still go on throughout the period of mourning.
Indeed, the opening night of Funny Money at The Mill at Sonning went ahead, with a minute’s silence before the show began.
And a performance from Simply Dan, a Steely Dan tribute, will take place at Winnersh Royal British Legion on Saturday.
In an email, Wokingham Music Club organiser Stan Hetherington said: “We will hold a minutes silence at 8pm.
“The decision to proceed has been taken in consultation with both the Royal British Legion and Simply Dan.”
However, a concert planned for this evening by the club, which would have been given by Curved Air, has been pulled.
Mr Hetherington said: “Tonight’s show with Curved Air is not taking place due to poor ticket sales.
“The cost of putting on shows is now at a level that for small clubs like ours we need to get very close to selling out otherwise the artist simply do not cover their cost.”
