Paul Barton, Liberal Democrat
Paul has been a Coronation resident for over 40 years – he was a Town Councillor for four of those.
He is a Chartered Accountant who was CFO of a large European services group.
His particular interest now is the care sector and he is Chairman of the Executive Committee of a Reading care home.
Ian Hills, Labour
Ian has lived in Woodley for 40 years. He is married with three grown-up children and two grandchildren.
Ian is retired having previously worked for British Airways for more than 20 years where he undertook a variety of Human Resources jobs including that of Human Resources Manager.
Ian was one of the original instigators of Woodley Labour’s successful campaign to ensure Woodley Town Council listened to the demands of residents and replaced the lost public toilet in the precinct.
Ian believes the toilet would have been built much, much earlier if Tory councillors had simply listened to residents.
Ian was also involved with the campaign to restore the 19a/c Bus service.
If elected as a councillor, Ian will be listening.
Kathy Smith, Green
My name is Kathy Smith. I have lived in Coronation ward since 1989.
My priorities for Coronation ward would be to improve public transport to help reduce the number of cars on our roads in order to improve air quality and make our roads safer, and to ensure that vital community services for local residents are maintained.
I would also encourage the council to push for more action to mitigate the effects of climate change.
