She has been an active community campaigner – 27 years on Woodley Town Council (she was Mayor three times) and 12 years on the District (Borough) Council.
Carol gets around Woodley (and beyond) on her bike and is very concerned about the state of Woodley’s roads.

Mary Young, Labour
Mary has lived in Woodley since 1981. She was a mental health social worker for 16 years and a youth worker at Bulmershe Youth Club and now works as a child contact support worker.
She is very concerned about the lack of funding for mental health and social care and the stress this places on families. Mary raised her own family in Woodley and is saddened to see how government funding cuts are impacting on young people not only in schools but due to the loss of funding for the Homestart schemes and youth clubs.
If elected Mary will press for investment in our young people to enable them to develop their full potential.
Woodley’s population and housing has increased dramatically in size, but there is a lack of affordable housing and facilities have not grown accordingly.
Time for a change – If something is not working don’t keep doing the same thing!
