Yesterday, voters across Wokingham Borough delivered their verdict on the ruling Lib Dem administration.
Due to boundary changes, this year all 54 council seats are being elected.
There are still 18 wards, but they have been redrawn to ensure all have three councillors, a big change from the previous set up.
For the past two years, the Lib Dems have run Wokingham Borough Council as a minority administration. For the first year, they entered into a partnership with Labour and the independents, but for the second they were able to run without such an agreement.
This year, they will be hoping to gain a majority – but the Conservatives, Labour and Greens will be looking to gain ground.
Voters were also asked to elect a new police and crime commissioner for the Thames Valley. This result will be announced tomorrow.
Results in neighbouring Reading saw Labour win a seat in Emmer Green, somewhere they had never had a seat in before. The Green party made a gain in Redlands ward, to cement their place as the official opposition. Conservatives lost a seat, reducing them even further, while the Lib Dems retained their Tilehurst seat.
Essentially, no change – but Wokingham will be different.
The Lib Dems will be optimistic about increasing their share and we’ll soon find out if they have done that.
The Conservatives ran the council for 20 years, and they will be looking to win back their majority.
Our live blog will bring the latest developments as they happen, including results.
