A GROUP of Wokingham artists is currently displaying its creative talents in St Paul’s Parish Rooms.
Wokingham Art Society members’ original and high quality pictures, cards and crafted items can be seen at the group’s 69th Annual Summer Exhibition and Sale, currently showing there.
Visiting the show was Wokingham MP Clive Jones.
He said: ”I’m not an artist myself, but I do appreciate the talents of others.
“There are several pieces that I have really liked today, and I’ve enjoyed the wide range of styles and subject matter.”
Prizes are given for pieces of particular note, and this year’s winners are:
Peter Izod, whose ‘Old Police Station Wokingham’ won the Paul Banning Award for Best Drawing.
Sarah Thomas who won the Daler-Rowney Award for Best Acrylic Painting with her ‘Held in Amber Light’.
Ashwani Verma’s ‘Sunny Day Paris ‘ won the Sandra Fagan Award for Best Watercolour Painting
Monica Garcia, whose ‘Wheel Thrown Pot’ won the Vice President’s Award for Best 3D Piece
Elizabeth Daborn, who won the Ray Mills Award for Best Painting in Mixed Media with her piece ‘The River’.
President’s Award for Best in Show went to Kusum Shabong for her painting ‘Sacred Motion ‘.
The event is a rolling exhibition, with new pieces continually added to the collection as items are sold to the public.
The exhibition can be seen every day until Saturday, August 1.
Doors are open from 10am until 5.30pm, apart from the last day, when the event ends at 4pm.
The exhibition is open to the public every day from 10:00 to 17:30 apart from the last day when it closes at 16:00.
Entry is free, and refreshments are available.
