A GUIDE to some of the best pubs in the country was launched in Wokingham last Thursday night – and beer lovers raised their glasses to it.
The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Good Beer Guide is the UK’s best-selling beer and pub guide and highlights the cream of the brewing and hospitality industry.
Many local venues feature in it, including The Crispin in Denmark Street, and it was here that the members of CAMRA Berkshire South East gathered to toast the latest publication.
It features more than 4,500 pubs, bars and clubs, all selected by volunteers from across the country.
At the launch, pub landlords known as Ange and Aid, were presented with a copy of the latest edition of the Good Beer Guide by CAMRA branch coordinator Mike Tickner. This will join previous editions on display in the pub. They also received posters and stickers for them to display, highlighting their entry into the book.
Kevin Lenton, the branch chair, said: “This is the best guide for pubgoers interested in being served a good pint of real ale, as well as those who wish to find a local near them that is welcoming and has many other benefits that may appeal.”
