Women of Wokingham Women’s Institute (WOWWI) took to the catwalk to raise funds for charity
Around 90 guests came to Wowwi’s Fantastic Frocks Fashion Show in Wokingham Town Hall, a fundraiser for borough charity The Cowshed, which provides household essentials and preloved clothes to people in crisis.
Kerry Chalmers from Wowwi, said: “We were so lucky to stage this event in the fabulous Wokingham Town Hall – it was a wonderful backdrop to a super night.
“And it was our pleasure to be able to donate just over £1320.00 to The Cowshed.
“Since they began in 2018, they have helped more than 20,000 local people.”
Catwalk fashions for the show were provided by The Cowshed, which regularly sells good quality evening wear at their Little Black Dress sales.
“The clothes were all amazing quality, some were even new and unworn, with tags still on them,” said Kerry.
After the fashion show, outfits were sold to the highest bidder.
“There were some very generous bids, raising much needed funds, and some delighted ladies walking away with great outfits and accessories,” she added.
Guests at the event received a goody bag, and were able to buy handmade decorations, soft toys, bags and bunting from a Cowshed craft stall.
Jewellery, a hamper, and afternoon tea were among the prizes distributed to raffle winners.
The event was sponsored by Wokingham solicitors Blandy & Blandy.
