A DANCE school for disabled children is asking Wokingham Paper readers to help it waltz off with a major cash prize.
Dozens of young people, including youngsters from across Wokingham borough, attend weekly classes at Chance to Dance which has sessions in Coley, Reading and Martins Heron, Bracknell.
Now the school is hoping to secure £10,000 funding which would enable it to expand and provide lessons to more children across the region.
Jenni Donato, one of the group’s organisers, said the money would also enable parents to have respite days and benefit from one-to-one coaching and emotional support.
“At the moment, we have around 60 families whose children attend Chance to Dance who would find it difficult to attend mainstream dance classes,” she explained.
“We are a not-for-profit dance school and more funding would enable us to bring down the cost of classes, meet venue costs and provide bigger and better summer camps and dance days.
“We have a few paid staff but we also benefit from the wonderful services from a great number of volunteers.”
Chance to Dance has applied to the Aviva Community Fund for £10,000 and is asking our readers to vote for the school.
“We put on full productions which the children love,” added Jenni.
“It would mean so much if we were nominated for the fund so we hope your readers will back us and help us to help even more children.
“The money would also allow us to provide respite days for these incredible families and enable parents to get one-to-one coaching and emotional support from Chance Coaching, a partner not-for-profit Company which provides life coaching for parents in exceptional circumstances.”
