Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology is being installed at a supermarket car park in Winnersh following concerns about anti-social behaviour.
Thames Valley Police said the cameras were being introduced at the Sainsbury’s car park on King Street Lane.
The force said the move followed concerns raised by members of the local community.
Police are working with Sainsbury’s as part of efforts to improve safety and security for people using the car park.
ANPR technology uses cameras to read vehicle registration plates and can help police identify vehicles of interest.
The force said the installation was intended to help deter and address anti-social behaviour in the area.
Thames Valley Police said it had listened to concerns from local residents and was working with the supermarket to enhance security at the site.
