Merry and Bright is the theme of this year's festive season at The Lexicon in Bracknell

THE FESTIVE season at a Bracknell shopping centre will officially begin later this month with the switch on of its Christmas lights – not just on the tree but in a specially constructed glow room too.

There are events up to Christmas, all starting with a day of festivities on Saturday, November 25, starting from noon.

Shoppers will be entertained by a roaming Oompah band, wowed by the Glitter Belle Stilt Walkers, and enjoy some traditional festive entertainment from The Christmas Crackers, crooner British Bublé and Rock Choir.

More than 20,000 LEDs have been pressed into use with the Lexicon Glow Room, which aims to be a magical winter forest light experience for all the family. It features an interactive snowy forest trail and a light and sound show lasting 20 minutes.

In Princess Square, there will be The Lexicon Light Pool, a huge ball pit with a difference: there are more than 20,000 balls that twinkle and shimmer with festive joy.

Entry is free, but donations towards Bracknell Food Bank are welcomed.

If that wasn’t enough, a giant Christmas bauble is to be erected on The Avenue, creating the perfect backdrop for seasonal selfies

Younger children can take part in a Twinkle Trail around the town centre, with 12 baubles to spot, designed by primary school children.

Visitors can win prizes by completing the trail leaflet.

On Sundays, favourite TV characters will be visiting, starting with Bluey on Sunday, December 3, Chase from Paw Patrol on Sunday, December 10, and Hey Duggee on Sunday, December 17.

Add in a Christmas market, set in wooden huts, and there are a myriad of ways of celebrating the most wonderful time of year.

Rob Morris, general manager at The Lexicon, said: “We believe that our Merry & Bright Christmas activities will add a huge dose of festive cheer for all visitors to The Lexicon. There’s something for everyone and, of course, our lights and tree will ensure that all shoppers get into the Christmas spirit.”
