A CCTV image has been released of a man police wish to trace following the armed robbery of the Earley Co-operative store on Wokingham Road on Sunday.

As we reported yesterday, at 6.40am on Sunday, February 18, a man armed with a gun raided the popular convenience store close to Meadow Road. He stole money during the raid, and no one was hurt.

Thames Valley Police are linking the raid to two others outside of Wokingham borough.

At around 11.30pm on Saturday, February 17, a man entered a Tesco Express store in Tring Road, Wendover.

He was armed with a machete, demanded money from the safe and made off with cash from the store.

And at around 5.45am on Sunday, February 18, a man entered the One Stop in Marlow Bottom Road, Marlow. He was armed with a small handgun and demanded money.

In this case the robber was unable to access any cash from the store and left empty handed.

Detective Inspector Jonathan Groenen, of Force CID based at Newbury police station, said: “I would like to speak to the person shown in the CCTV image as he may have important information about the robberies. Please get in touch if you are this man or recognise him or his clothing.

“Detectives are continuing to investigate these incidents which we are currently treating as linked.

“Thankfully no one was injured in any of the robberies however they caused distress to the victims. As a result of the incidents people in the affected local communities may see an increased police presence whilst we continue to investigate.

“If anyone has a dash cam and was driving past any of these locations around the time of these incidents please check the footage and come forward.”

If anyone has any information we would ask them to call 101 quoting reference 1688 of 17/2.
