Depression Xpression is a mental health peer support group.
We run monthly support meetings in Reading and Wokingham and have speakers and demonstrations on subjects around depression and anxiety.
The meetings are free of charge and aim to provide a safe and confidential space where everyone is listened to and treated with the respect.
The Wokingham meeting takes place at the Salvation Army, Sturges Road, Wokingham on the first Wednesday of every month from 7pm-9pm.
We are looking for a volunteer who can come and help set up, be there to listen and talk when needed and will ideally have local knowledge.
The volunteer will need to be available from 6.30pm-9.30pm on the first Wednesday of every month. They will need to be a good listener and communicator, reliable and empathetic.
Building for the Future is a Wokingham based, parent led charity providing activities, support and therapy for children with disabilities and/or extra needs and their families.
We are looking for volunteers to help at various groups we run from Our House in Wokingham.
Ladybirds (0- 5yrs) Friday 9.30-11.30am approx 2 per month, youth club Friday 7-9pm approx two per month and Saturday club 11-1pm (quiet session) 3-5pm (active session) approx two per month.
Our House is a unique and accessible play centre for children with any disability. These are not respite sessions as parents are always in the building, but a willingness to play and ensure the children have the most fun they can have is vital.
Wokingham Foodbank needs your help.
The number of people needing food banks has increased in recent years and we anticipate this trend to continue especially in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
As a supermarket collection volunteer you will play a vital role to our foodbank ensuring that we are meeting the demand for our services, providing help and support to people in crisis in the local community. This role is suitable for people who can volunteer their time in the evenings or at weekends.
We request that volunteers are able to make a regular commitment for at least six months.
Person Specification: You must have your own vehicle, physically able to lift heavy bags and display empathy for people of disadvantaged backgrounds.
Specific Responsibilities: are collection of food donations from local supermarkets and delivery of food donations to our warehouse in Winnersh.
