A BATON on it’s way from Glasgow to Egypt has just passed through Reading and Wokingham.
Runners, cyclists and sailors are carrying it one by one across nations and seas.
Inside it is a message from young people, for those who are meeting at COP 27.
The message is: We are running out of time.
The relay began a week ago in Glasgow, where last year’s COP 26 took place.
The baton’s final destination is Sharm el Sheik, in Egypt, where COP 27 will meet.
Until then it has a journey of seven and a half thousand kilometres to complete.
There will be 732 hand overs between runners, cyclists and sailors.
The baton left The University of Reading and arrived on time at St Paul’s Church Wokingham this aftenoon.
Professor Peter Miskell handed over the baton to Samantha Gibbins, who is on her way to Lily Hill in Bracknell for the next hand over.
