WOKINGHAM MP Clive Jones showed his support for a local charity when he dropped in to learn more about the remarkable contribution it makes to the borough.
“The Cowshed is a major asset to our community,” he said after his visit.
Clive dropped in to the organisation, which supports anyone who needs them through times of extreme difficulty, to show his support and learn more about the vital services the Wokingham charity provides.
Founded by CEO Sally Russell, The Cowshed is a community-driven charity supporting more than 120 people in times of personal crisis.
Each week, its 420 regular volunteers help to provide clean clothes and other essential items to residents in need in Wokingham and the wider Berkshire area.
In line with its community empowering work, The Cowshed also offers holiday activities and food for more than 140 children each year, supports local SEND volunteering and offers a community craft group to improve mental wellbeing.

Sally Russell, alongside other members of the team, showed the Wokingham MP around their busy hub in Mulberry Business Park, including the charity’s donation centre that processes around one tonne of clothing and essentials each day.
During the visit, members of the charity explained to Clive that the rising energy bills and the cost of household essentials were driving factors of increasing need.
He said: “The Cowshed is a vital service for those being pushed into financial hardship by the rise in household costs we are seeing as a result of the cost-of-living crisis.”
After the visit, he added: “I was delighted to visit The Cowshed again, accompanied by Sally Russell, and I cannot praise the charity enough.
“It is a major asset to our community, offering dignified support to hundreds of people in times of personal crisis each week.
“I visited The Cowshed’s hub and met with its incredible network of members to understand how I can advocate for them further.
“It’s essential to recognise the value of this charity in the community, and the hard work of all its staff.”
