A BOROUGH charity that supports child and adult victims of domestic abuse is holding a convention in October aimed at highlighting the need for change in society, to address issues that face families and the community as a whole.
Kaleidoscopic UK’s Domestic Abuse Prevention Convention will bring together a panel of multi-agency professionals and survivors to talk about ways to address factors that can lead to physical violence and emotional abuse in the home.
Vickie Robertson, founder of Kaleidoscopic UK said: “ We have some amazing speakers, who will discuss the reality of domestic abuse and its impacts.”
Speakers at this year’s conference will be:
Jeremy Indika, educator and campaigner, child sexual abuse (CSA) survivor, and founder of Something to Say, a movement focused on raising awareness of CSA through storytelling, education and prevention.
Laura Richards, criminal behaviour analyst and international expert on domestic violence, and founder of Paladin, the world’s first National Stalking Advocacy Service.
Dame Nicole Jacobs, who with more than two decades of experience working to reduce domestic abuse, will speak in her capacity as Domestic Abuse Commissioner.
Family law specialist Lisa Lee; founder of the Asian Single Parents Network Aruna Bansal; survivor and campaigner Zoe Dronfield; Crissie Amiss from Women Against Rape; and Anne Neale from Support Not Separation will also share their expertise and experience.

The annual convention will coincide with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and promises to be an insightful day of learning, healing and unity.
It will look at the importance of education, the impact of abuse on child and adult survivors, and on communities, prevention of abuse, and some of the warning signs to look out for.
The event’s driving purpose is to promote real change in communities, so that the cycle of abuse can be broken.
“This will be an opportunity for people to collaborate, learn, gain vital resources and understanding, and to be empowered,” said Vickie.
The event will take place at the FBC Centre, Finchampstead, on Thursday, October 9, from 9.15am until 4.15pm.
Tickets, costing £81.65, include snacks and refreshments during the day, and a woodfired pizza and salad lunch buffet.
