A BOROUGH postmaster celebrated the 30th anniversary of running Embrook Stores and Post Office on Saturday with a special party.
Sanjay Odedra and his team at the Reading Road store invited customers to join him for a fun day, with food tasting, free slushies and drinks, plus the opportunity to enter a contest to win a mountain bike.
And the popular postmaster said that it exceeded his expectations: “It went really well, a lot of people turned up. People said they came after seeing it in The Wokingham Paper.
“We didn’t expect that many people to come and we were quite shocked at the turnout on the day.
“The food sampling was a hit – we sold out of all many of the ranges, people didn’t realise the quality of the food.
“A lady came just before we finished, he parents owned the shop 60/70 years ago. She came along with pictures of what it was like and armed with loads of information.”
The store is raffling a mountain bike for charity and tickets are on sale until the weekend. Customers are being asked to nominate the charity for the proceeds to go to.
