A BOROUGH village is holding a free to enter after-dark shopping event as part of its winter festivities, with thousands expected to attend.
Crowthorne Parish Council, and Churches Together Crowthorne, are putting the finishing touches to their annual Christmas Late Night Shopping evening.
The annual event offers entertainment as well as shopping, with a variety of stalls, music and activities available for visitors to enjoy.
Visitors will be able to buy Christmas gifts, and to enjoy games, rides, festive food, and tombolas.
Stalls will be selling cards, books, trees, wreaths, jewellery, and skin care.
Organisers say that many of the village’s established local stores will be staying open late, along with cafes, restaurants and bars.
“The shops will be open all along the High Street, and Dukes Ride,” said a parish council representative.
“We have 50 different charity and trade stalls this year, representing various PTA’s, charitable groups, and local crafts.
“There will be fairground rides to enjoy, Father Christmas will be in his grotto, and the ‘infamous’ Scout barbecue will be serving hot food.”
Live entertainment will take place throughout the evening on two large stages, with performances from local schools and clubs.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for all the different local groups to get together,” continued the council representative.
“We sing carols, turn on the Christmas lights, do some festive shopping, and start the Christmas season together.
“We’re anticipating a busy night.”
The event takes place on Friday, December 1, with the mayor of the Borough of Bracknell Forest, Cllr Naheed Ejaz officially opening the evening’s activities outside Crowthorne library, at 5.30pm.
The Late Night Shopping event will run from 5pm until 7.30pm, with road closure in place from 4pm until 8pm.
Parking will be available at Morgan Recreation Ground, Co-op, Lower Broadmoor Road, Heath Hill, and New Road.
But Lidl car park will not be accessible due to road closure.
