Reading FC legend and former manager Brian McDermott has given his thoughts on the club following their play-off push amid the ownership crisis.
Despite all the off field issues that surround the club, Noel Hunt has managed to galvanise his side for a play-off push.
The Royals are currently in 6th position with a two point buffer before they face an away visit to relegation threatened Northampton Town on Saturday.
McDermott, who had two spells at the club as manager, took to LinkedIn to reflect on his time at the club and to also praise current manager Noel Hunt.
During McDermott’s first spell as Reading boss, he won promotion to the Premier League in the 2011/12 season with a team that included Hunt.
McDermott said: “Reading FC in the last few years have had so much trauma, adversity and the not knowing what is coming next.
“I was very proud to work for the club in those incredible years from 2000-2013. Watching from afar I could not be prouder of what is going on at the club now.
“Noel Hunt, Nigel Gibbs and Mikele Leigertwood, plus all the staff. My great friends, what a fantastic job they are doing.
“How the team on the pitch relate to the supporters. Young players who are doing the club proud.
The fans who have shown so much passion, resilience and love for the club.
“It is very much one day at a time at the moment and hoping the right owner takes over this great club.
“The biggest compliment I can give Noel, the staff, players and fans is it feels, today, like it used to be, “The Reading Way” that was a badge of honour for our club as it is today.
“Keep going, hopefully this month brings good news.”
