A WOODLEY school is delighted to celebrate another year of very strong A Level and Level 3 qualification results, with students achieving excellent outcomes and securing places at leading universities, degree apprenticeships and other ambitious destinations.
Waingels tudents achieved a record number of top grades this summer, says the school, with one in four results awarded at A* or A.
Half of all grades were achieved at A* to B, while one in five students secured AAB benchmark, almost double the proportion achieved in 2025 and significantly above the national average.
Students also made exceptional progress, says the school, with Waingels students attaining around a third of a grade higher per subject on average than students nationally with similar GCSE results.
Headteacher Mrs Humber said: “We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2026 and all that they have achieved.
“These results reflect not only academic success but also the dedication, resilience and character that our students have demonstrated throughout their time with us.
“The fact that a quarter of all grades were awarded at A* or A is particularly pleasing and reflects the ambition, hard work and commitment of both our students and staff.
“We are especially proud that our students have secured such a diverse range of exciting destinations, including leading universities, highly competitive courses such as medicine and veterinary medicine, and prestigious degree apprenticeships with nationally recognised employers.
“Their success demonstrates that there are many pathways to a bright future, and we are delighted to see our students pursuing opportunities that match their talents and aspirations.
“I would like to congratulate all of our students on their achievements and wish them every success in the next stage of their journey.”

Artemis, who achieved A* A A A and will progress to Mathematics at the University of Bristol
Hannah, whose outstanding A* A* Distinction* enables her to study Psychology and Child Development at the University of Winchester
Katie, who gained A* A A and will study Primary Education with QTS at Winchester
Isabel, who achieved A* A A and will study History at the University of Bristol
Javier’s A* A A B means he progresses to Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southampton
Daniel’s Distinction* A A enables him to study Accounting and Finance at the University of Southampton
Sienna’s Distinction* A A means she will study at Criminology at Reading University
Ellie, who gained A* A A and will study Business Management and Marketing at the University of Bath
Sam, who gained A* A A and will begin a Degree Apprenticeship in Accountancy with JMM
Abigail, who achieved A* A B and will study Veterinary Medicine at the University of Nottingham
Oliver, whose A* A A B sees him reading History at Exeter
Spencer, who achieved A A A A and will study Medicine at the University of Exeter.
Charlie, who secured AAA and will study Aerospace Engineering at the University of Surrey, and
Will, who achieved AAA and has secured a Degree Apprenticeship in Chemical Science with Glaxo Smith Klein
While these achievements are exceptional, they represent just a small sample of the many students whose hard work, determination and perseverance have enabled them to achieve their very best, says the school.
