One year after his election as member of parliament for Wokingham, Clive Jones has vowed to keep fighting for Wokingham.
In July 2024, the Liberal Democrats made history, winning 72 seats, including in Wokingham.
In a statement, Jones said that since then he has been standing up for the community, and delivering on key campaign pledges, including improving GP services, improving cancer care, and holding Thames Water to account.
He said: “I was so honoured and humbled when one year ago, voters put their faith in me to be their local champion.
“Since then, I have hit the ground running, fighting to be the strong voice in parliament that our community deserves.
“From day one, I have been focused on those issues people have told me they care about most – fixing our local health services, tackling the cost-of-living crisis and cleaning up our environment.
“Locally, I’m proud to have helped deliver the government’s commitment to implement a National Cancer Plan, helping to end Dai Yongge’s ownership at Reading FC, and progress on establishing a new GP service in Arborfield, proving what’s possible when we put our community first and stay focused on what matters.
“I’m now pushing hard to get the government to turn Thames Water into a Public Benefit Company, and end its scandalous sewage dumping.
“I won’t stop until we see real progress.
“I have also managed to help over 5,000 residents with a variety of issues – and this is the most important part of my role, representing people in Wokingham.
“Liberal Democrats will keep fighting to deliver change for Wokingham, after years of Conservative failure and neglect.”
