A NIGHT of music featuring some of the greatest tunes ever composed will be taking place in Wokingham next month.
Town Mayor Cllr Lynn Forbes is holding A Taste of Opera in a bid to raise funds for her charity of the year, Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre.
The music will be given by members of Opera D’Amici, who have performed at the Royal Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall – they are delighted to add Wokingham Town Hall to their CV.
Cllr Forbes says tha the lively group of singers interact with their audience as they perform songs from some of the most well-known of operas and West End shows. The programme will include pieces from Carmen, La bohème, Gianni Schicchi, Porgy and Bess, Turandot and La Traviata along with songs from South Pacific, Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera and West Side Story.
And proceeds will go to the animal rescue centre which has been helping pets for the last 50 years, finding homes for dogs, cats, rabbits, parrots and many other needy animals.
Tickets cost £45 and are available from the Wokingham Town Hall Information Centre from 10am to 2pm Mondays to Saturdays, by calling 0118 974 0880 or emailing l.forbes@wokingham-tc.gov.uk
