Just a month after Coast to Coast closed in Wokingham town centre following 17 years of trading, a new business appears to be preparing to move into the vacant premises.
The unit at 39 Peach Street has remained empty since the closure, but fresh signage in the windows suggests an opening could be imminent.
As first reported by Wokingham Today, a business trading as Wokingham Local applied to Wokingham Borough Council for a premises licence before Coast to Coast closed.
The application, submitted in April, sought permission to sell alcohol for consumption off the premises every day between 07:00 and 23:00.
New signs have now appeared advertising an “off licence” and “Pound Land” offering, indicating work is progressing ahead of the store opening.
Although an opening date has not yet been confirmed, the latest developments suggest the long-vacant Peach Street unit could soon be back in use with a new convenience store.
