A BERKSHIRE charity is set to host a free talk on June 26, entitled Rescuing Ruins, which will explore how some of the country’s most historic buildings are being protected from being lost forever.
Reading u3a, a ‘learning co-operative’ which helps those who have retired maintain active and engaging lifestyles, will welcome the Landmark Trust to discuss its work in saving significant structures.
Guest speaker Alastair Dick-Cleland will speak about his 25 years of experience working for the Trust and some of the many restoration projects he has overseen – these range from a tiny schoolhouse in Scotland to Astley Castle near Nuneaton.
Mr Dick-Cleland is a building surveyor and his expertise lies in building conservation.
The talk takes place at 2pm at Abbey Baptist Church, Abbey Square. Doors open at 1.30pm.
