Reading FC fans have reacted across social media after the club unveiled their new home kit for the 2026/27 season.
Last week’s confirmation that gambling company ‘Mr Vegas’ would be the new front-of-shirt sponsor, taking over from Select Car Leasing, was met with mixed reactions including plenty of negative comments.
However, many fans have been pleasantly surprised by the new Royals kit, manufactured by Macron. Thai years kit sees a more traditional design compared to last year’s experimental pattern used on the blue and white hoops.
One fan said: “That’s a class kit and a nice announcement video too. One of the best kits we have produced in a while. Those hooped socks as well.”
Another added: “An absolute banger of a kit. Love the hooped socks, too. Shame it costs £50 for a junior shirt. Pathetic price.”
Another said: “Okay, it has Mr Vegas which is abhorrent, but that aside, it’s an objectively nice shirt. Not a risky design like last year’s, and I think that means it’ll be a good seller. And at least the sponsor isn’t bright green.”
However, fans were less impressed with the price of the kit, which has increased on last season.
One said: “If only it had Select Car Leasing as the front sponsor on the men’s top. It would be nice if men had an option of no sponsor or a SCL sponsor option like the women have. It would also be nice if the price was reasonable.”
Another added: “I know not a Reading FC issue, but something should be done about junior shirt prices, maybe similar to TwentysPlenty for tickets. £74 for a kids shirt, with their favourite player name and a badge is criminal. I’d love to know how/why football clubs can charge that.”
