A WOKINGHAM pantomime group has raised thousands of pounds for a good cause.
The Corpus Christi Parish Pantomime Group reached a total of £2,258 with their January performances of Jack And The Beanstalk.
Their own version of the panto took place at the Caudwell Hall Theatre in Holme Grange School.
The show raised money to support First Days Children’s Charity, which supports families experiencing hardship, and equips children with the essential items they need during early years, and at school.
Pantomime director Martin Robins, says: “I am so proud of the cast for the quality of the show they produced.
“We all put in a huge amount of effort and it really came out in the performance.
“Thank you to the entire cast and everyone who helped, both on stage and off.
“It’s amazing what you can achieve with a little silliness, powder, paint and song.”
A spokesperson from First Days Children’s Charity says: “We are incredibly grateful to all those involved with the Parish Pantomime, for raising an incredible amount.
“The money will make a huge difference to children and families in the Wokingham, Bracknell and Reading areas who are experiencing financial hardship.
“We help these families by providing them with the essential items they need to ensure their children are safe, having fun, and confident at school.”
The Corpus Christi Parish Pantomime Group is a multi generational social group from the Corpus Christi RC Church Wokingham, with members from 11 years upwards.
The all amateur group gets involved in every aspect of the performance, and is always looking for new members.
They invite anyone who would like to join them on stage or backstage, to email them at: [email protected].
