New driving restrictions will be imposed on Back Lane outside Lambs Lane primary school after residents raised safety concerns.
Under plans approved by Wokingham Borough Council last week, vehicles over 7.5 tonnes will be banned from the road near Spencers Wood, with the aim of protecting pedestrians near the school.
Council documents say neighbours had complained about large vehicles from Lambs Lane Business Park and other businesses using the road on their way to the A33.
A consultation on the proposed changes suggested residents approve the plans.
Councillor Paul Fishwick, who is responsible for highways, approved the new rule on Tuesday, October 31.
Council documents stated: “After receiving complaints from local residents about large vehicles coming from Lambs Farm Business Park, and other businesses in the area, to access A33 and vice versa, proposals were considered to introduce a 7.5 tonne weight limit restriction at Back Lane.
“The aim of this restriction would be to address the concerns raised by the residents and promote safer traffic flow in the area.”
The documents added: “The initial consultation was conducted with local residents and Thames Valley Police, who supported any practical measures that would make it safer for children attending Lambs Lane Primary School.”
