A collection of autographed images collected by a former employee of Pinewood film studios is set to come under the hammer in Wokingham today.
The lots are part of the monthly auction at Martin & Pole, and is expected to see attention from bidders from around the world.
Valuer Martin Weekly told Wokingham Today: “We are excited to present in this week’s auction a signed photographic album of more than 70 stars of the stage and silver screen.
“The lot is offered by a former employee of Pinewood Studios and contains A-list Hollywood celebrities.
“One includes Marilyn Monroe, however further investigation has revealed this may have been signed by her personal secretary – which was often the case when handling her volume of fan mail.”
Lot 130, the autographed photo of Marilyn Monroe, is guided at between £100 and £200.
Lot 131, an extensive collection of signed autographed photographs, is guided at between £800 and £1,200.
That lot includes personal signed letters and an autograph book, presented in three albums, including Syd James, Morecambe & Wise, Tony Hancock, Jimmy Tarbuck, Diana Dors, Ton Jones, Lucille Ball, Bob Hope, and Sophia Loren.
There are also letters from Sie Winston Churchill, Hilary Clinton, David Attenborough, Margaret Thatcher, Harold Macmillan, and many others.
The auction is set to take place at Martin & Pole’s auction room in Milton Road, starting at 10am. It will also be streamed online.
