Reading FC have made their first signing of the summer transfer window on deadline day as Chem Campbell joins on loan from Wolves.
The Royals, who are under a transfer embargo and had been restricted to only making signings until a takeover was complete, have managed to get their first addition despite the takeover not being complete.
The 21-year-old forward joins from Premier League side Wolves until January 5, 2025.
The club has said that the deal has been allowed to be completed due to ‘cooperation of all parties.’
However, he will not be eligible to play in tomorrow’s League One match against Charlton Athletic.
“We are very happy to secure the signing of Chem, a player who will bolster our attacking options for the first half of our League One campaign,” said Reading manager Ruben Selles.
“He has come through some of the best Academy setups in the country and has experienced minutes playing at English football’s top level, and we are delighted to bring him to Reading to give him an opportunity to impress and develop further.”
